Well, the sox have an off night tonight. Not much baseball to report, so I thought i'd make a music post. One of my favorite genres of music is rap. It tends to get a bad rap (no pun intended) by a lot of people, but it has a lot to offer and most people only hear the mainstream stuff. Heres a few tracks I recommend you check out before you say you hate rap:
Yesterday- Atmosphere
- Listen carefully to the lyrics, especially to the end. you think its just another song about a girl, but it's not.
Love Ain't Fly- Cunninlinguists
- This one IS about love, but its a great track and very fun to listen to.
Porcelain- Tonedeff
- Another amazing track. This one stays with you
Put it On- Big L
- A classic.
By the way, I may or may not be on tomorrow as it is my first day of COLLEGE.
-Peace

almost september...
...and you know what that means, september callups. Everyone's roster expands and teams call up minor leaguers.
Im sure you read the yahoo news article about Aroldis Chapman and his 105 MPH fastball. Well, the reds have decided to call him up a few days early rather than wait for september callups. Lets hope he doesn't hurt his arm and become the next Strasburg, or freak out and pull a Rick Ankiel.
Heres a couple of 90's rock songs that I can't get out of my head right now for you

Big game today
Tonight is a big game. This is a must win for the Sox. It's also on ESPN, catch it at 8 eastern time. The pitching matchup is John Lackey against the Ray's James Shields. Shields has some shaky stats, and the Sox need to get to him early, and get to him a lot. Hopefully Lackey can shine in this big game.
By the way, Ryan Kalish's web gem from last night was #1 on baseball tonight. Tune in tonight to find out if he gets #1 for the week.
Heres a chill mid-afternoon tune to jam out to before the game...
Outkast- So Fresh, So Clean

Hot Stove, Cool Music
I'm a baseball nut, and a diehard Red Sox fan. I hope to share my love of baseball as well as music with you all through this blog. The title comes from a Red Sox benefit concert held every January. Although much of the content will be about the Sox, I will try to cover other topics as they come up. This won't necessarily be the place to go for news, but rather a New Englander's spin on everybody's favorite game.
Today the big news was that Stephen Strasburg, young fireballer for the Washington Nationals, will require Tommy John surgery. This is a numbing tragedy, considering talent like that doesn't come around every day. Perhaps a consolation for the Nationals is that they get Strasburg for an extra year should he come back from the injury.
Also, the Sox lost to the Rays 3-2 in 10 innings. Ray Dan Johnson hit a walkoff homer in the 10th. This was pretty much a must win game for the sox, and needless to say people who were shouting pack it in before today are certainly shouting it louder tonight. Yesterday was such an uplifting win, and today looked good too for the most part. Clay Buchholz pitched yet another gem, and can't be expected to give up no runs in an outing. Bottom line: the sox bats, apart from Victor Martinez, were quiet and didn't give enough run support. WEEI tomorrow will be full of callers shouting that Buchholz should have stayed in longer, i'm sure.
Anyways, heres a cool track to end the night with. Its a new track by Cee-Lo Green called F*ck You. Getting past the name, its a really fun and catchy song. If you are thinking that the voice sounds familiar, it is because he is the singer of Gnarls Barkley, of "Crazy" fame.
F*ck You- Cee-Lo Green
Peace.
